Beliefs

Our life of faith in the Episcopal Church is shaped by the promises we make in the Baptismal Covenant, which call us to follow Jesus in every part of our lives.

We follow Jesus Christ.

We believe that in Jesus Christ, God’s love is made known to the world. Through his life, teaching, death, and resurrection, Jesus shows us the depth of God’s grace and invites us into a life of hope, forgiveness, and transformation.

We gather in prayer and worship.

In the Episcopal Church we believe that praying shapes believing. Our common worship—especially the celebration of Holy Eucharist—forms our faith and our life together. Through Scripture, ancient prayers, music, and sacrament, we remember God’s story and are strengthened to live as Christ’s people in the world.

We continue learning and growing.

Faith is a lifelong journey. We engage Scripture thoughtfully and draw on the wisdom of Christian tradition while asking honest questions and seeking deeper understanding together.

We welcome every person.

We believe every human being is created in the image of God and is deeply loved by God. Because of this, we strive to create a community where all people are welcomed, valued, and invited to participate fully in the life of the church.

We seek and serve Christ in others.

Following Jesus means loving our neighbors in practical ways. We seek to care for those in need, offer compassion to those who are hurting, and serve our community with generosity and humility.

We work for justice and peace.

Our faith calls us beyond the walls of the church. We strive to respect the dignity of every human being, work for justice and reconciliation, and care for God’s creation in our communities and in the wider world.
