Opportunities abound for you to participate in our worship services, whether you like to sing with the choir, serve as an usher or lector, or arrange flowers for the altar. If you are interested in any of these, contact the church office at 256-881-7223.

A New Season
This renewal music group leads guitar music occasionally at our Sunday 10 a.m. service, and for other special services.
Serving at Worship
Lector: The Lector is a person who reads the Old Testament and New Testament lessons and leads the Prayers of the People. Please contact The Rev. Deacon Lynn Bullard at the church office if you would like to be a Lector. The readings for each service are available online at The Lectionary Page.
Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM): The LEM helps distribute the wine at Communion. LEMs must be confirmed and at least age 16. The Rector appoints all new LEMs for a term of three years. Please contact the church office by October 1 of each year if you are interested in serving as a LEM.
Eucharistic Visitor: Providing an extension of the Holy Eucharist, licensed lay ministers take the sacraments from the communion service to those who are homebound. Parish members who wish to accompany the Eucharistic Visitor or become a Eucharistic Visitor should contact The Rev. Deacon Lynn Bullard at the church office.
Server, Crucifer, and Torches: A Server assists the Celebrant during the Eucharist. A Crucifer carries the cross, and the two Torches carry the candles. Crucifers must be confirmed and Grade 9 or older. Torches must be baptized and Grade 3 or older. All of these acolytes are also part of the processional.
Usher: An Usher fulfills many small duties before, during, and after the worship service, including helping people find seating, recording service attendance, and passing offering plates.
Greeter: St. Stephen’s has a team of greeters that extends hospitality to our visitors at all weekend services. For more information about becoming a greeter, contact Kay Howard.
Altar Guild: The Altar Guild is a group whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services and clean up afterwards. The Altar Guild contact is Eileen Martin.
Flower Guild: The Flower Guild arranges the altar flowers for each Sunday. Volunteers work on a rotating schedule throughout the year.
